The summer has been very mild so far, with only a few days of
above-average temperature. Deer are very plentiful and
healthy-looking,
with the pattern we have noticed before: does and fawns mostly in the
wooded lower mountain, and bucks primarily in the upper meadows.
Two mountain lions (or possibly the same one twice) were seen at the
Adobe Creek crossing, ten days apart. Here are two nice close-ups
from the second visit:
The fawns we have been watching for several months are growing larger, but still have spots. Here is a still photo followed by two videos:
Bobcat on the upper mountain. Not the best shot...
Skunk at daybreak.
Bucks in the upper meadow. This camera took over 400 pictures of deer,
mostly bucks, on this meadow.
They munch something on the ground, not clear what. It is too early
for acorns and buckeyes and too late for mushrooms.
I need ID help on this one. What bird has a light-blue belly and orange or pink underwings?
No feral hogs were seen this month, although their sign is evident on the
upper mountain.
