A great deal of animal activity this month, more than usual, took place at night. Normally diurnal animals might be avoiding the heat of the day.
The Adobe Creek crossing camera was productive as usual.
This fawn might be the same one photographed last month. It's spots are starting to fade.
This bobcat is carrying a large rodent, possibly a dusky-footed woodrat, in its mouth. This is the first instance of predation we have seen.
This mountain lion is traveling up the creek using the boulders as stepping stones.
Opossum crossing the creek. A good look at its humanoid fingers.
Redtail hawk landing on a creek boulder. This large bird is often seen in this wooded area.
This image is blurred, but I included it as an unusual look at a hummingbird examining the camera.
This appears to be the same mountain lion, photographed about 30 minutes later higher on the mountain.
Three photos of deer on the same trail. Two bucks at sunset, a doe and fawn at dawn (likely the same pair from the creek), and a doe at midday.
Feral hogs are back. This one was photographed on that same trail at night.
Family of three skunks on the same trail. The video reveals a fun dynamic. One youngster digs for insects with Mom, while the other just wants to frolic.
Our camera on the upper mountain meadow saw many deer this month. These two young bucks faced off over a period of several minutes and did a little light sparring. Their antlers are still in velvet and the rut is at least a month away.
